Muchas gracias to all families who were able to join us for our Noche de Currículo on Thursday. It is so wonderful to learn more about you as we get to know your child in class. Thank you for reviewing the information shared in the black folder and for getting started on your “homework assignment”! This gives me valuable insight and information about your child before we sit down for fall conferences. If you have not been able to schedule a conference yet, you will receive an email from me soon. I will also be sending home reminders when it gets closer to your scheduled time and date. Thank you to Leah Levine (mamá de Ellie) for sharing information about the recommended text, The Language Immersion Life by Millie Park Mellgren. I found this to be an enjoyable and easy read this summer, and those families new to language immersion education may find it helpful. I also hope to see many of you at tomorrow’s Wayland Carnival Day from 12-4 at the middle school as we celebrate Ellie y su hermanita Annie! I am crossing my fingers that some amigos de salón 1 get to dunk Señor Jones :)! This week we will be starting to use our Phonics curriculum Estrellita, learn about the "persona misteriosa" of the week and start small group math instruction and rotations! Special Events/Reminders for this week:
Parent/Teacher tip! If you are having trouble getting information about your child’s day at school, try asking very specific questions (i.e. “What game did you play at morning meeting? ¿Cómo se dice “red” en español? Who did you chat with during merienda/snack? How many days have you been in school so far? What did you choose to do/play during “choice time”? Parents also commented last year that the photos I share from the week helped to promote conversations about activities in class, and the friends students were making in school! Songs to practice at home: Although I do not claim to be a professional singer, I am more than happy to record some of the songs that we are learning and practicing in class! I have already reached out to a contact, but if you are tech-savvy and interested in helping us with this project, please let me know. I think it would be a great resource for families to have. Here are a few songs students have already been learning that also have links online:
This week's slideshow features lots of partner math games, outdoor Science lesson, guest readers Sra. Lepow (math coach) and Sra. Pirelli (guidance) y más!
