¡Muy buenos días a todos! Thank you for a wonderful first week of parent teacher conferences! Please continue to send in your "parent homework." You are the experts of your child and their first teachers, so I really appreciate your insight! This week: This week we will be diving deeper into the first letters and sounds in our phonics sequence (vowels "o" and "a"), continue to explore our school yard trees in Science and learn more about the important routines of Reader's Workshop! I did give the students a little homework to start teaching you our phonics chant in Estrellita which includes key words, sounds and movements. See youtube video for support: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUi-d8eQFpM Please note that we have picture day, bright and early on Tuesday (get those forms in!) and no school on Wednesday in observance of Yom Kippur. Please also be on the lookout for a project coming home with your child this week centered around El Día de Los Muertos. Friendly reminders: 1. Library books! In order to check out a new book from Loker's library each week, students need to remember to return the book they checked out the previous week! One mom shared at conferences that her child knows that her Loker library book needs to "live" in her backpack if they are not enjoying it! This week's slideshow includes rompecabezas de árboles (tree puzzles) in Science, math rotations Ben's 6th birthday, guest reader Rhandy and of course our field trip to Lookout Farm!
